Yokohama, Japan - JGC Corporation and its subsidiary JGC Arabia Ltd. announced today that a contract has been signed with Saudi Polymers Company to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the NCP Project – North Plot, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
This project calls for the engineering, procurement and construction of Ethylene, Metathesis, Pygas-Hydrotreater and 1-Hexene process units, with mechanical completion in early 2011.
Saudi Polymers Company is a new limited liability company incorporated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia initially 50% owned by Arabian Chevron Phillips Petrochemical Company Limited ("ACP"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC and 50% by the Saudi Industrial Investment Group ("SIIG"). Ultimately, Saudi Polymers Company will be 35% owned by ACP and 65% by National Petrochemical Company ("Petrochem"), a new joint stock company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In 2004, JGC and JGC Arabia Ltd. were awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for an integrated Styrene facility at Jubail, Saudi Arabia, called the JCP Project, the construction of which is in progress. The JCP Project is owned and operated by Jubail Chevron Phillips Company, a company jointly owned by ACP and SIIG.
JGC has extensive experience in the execution of mega-sized projects. Currently, construction is in progress for the Rabigh Project, the Hawiyah NGL Project and the JCP Project in the Kingdom.
