Yokohama, Japan – On this occasion, JGC Corp. (Chairman & CEO, Keisuke Takeuchi) signed a MOU at the meeting between Japanese prime minister and Chinese Premier, held in Beijing on December 25, 2011. The MOU has the objective of creating a fund to promote energy saving and environment conservation by collaborating with JBIC (President & CEO, Hiroshi Watanabe), Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd. (MHCB: President & CEO, Yasuhiro Sato), Export-Import Bank of the ROC (EXIM), Hangzhou City Industry Development Investment Co. Ltd (HCIDI), and Zhejiang Communications & Media Holdings Group, Ltd (ZCMHG).

Energy saving and environment conservation are important areas of China's Twelfth Five-Year Guideline, 2011-2015. Joint statements made by both China's and Japan's governments reiterated mutual collaboration efforts to further developments in these areas and confirmed collaboration strengthening in areas of energy saving and environment conservation.

The MOU supports the financial aspect of environment protection trends, and provides equity funding to venture companies related to energy saving and environment conservation in China by leveraging collaborating between leading financial institutions in both China and Japan.

Through this investment, JGC will be drawing on its energy-saving environmental technology and its past experience with environmental projects in China, to help provide solutions to environmental problems by offering support to the development of high-quality projects that improve energy-efficiency in China, while also fostering cooperative business relationships between Japanese and Chinese companies.
